Arlington Free Clinic is proudly celebrating 20 years of working to help build a healthy community for everyone. Over the years, we’ve expanded the number of patients we can see and the types of medical services we provide. Basically what we do is take care of extremely sick members of our community who struggle financially and don’t have health insurance. At the same time, we’ve earned a reputation for clinical and organizational excellence. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the Clinic yet, how about a quick tour? Here’s our clinic facility – right off Columbia Pike.
We’re proud to be the first free clinic in the nation to have earned LEED Gold certification for sustainable design and construction.

Here’s Dr. Shenk – one of over 170 skilled and compassionate physicians who volunteers his time. He’s with one of our 1,700 patients who’s making it clear that she’s grateful for the care she’s receiving.

A little more information –
- AFC has EMR (electronic medical record) to enhance quality and efficiency of care.
- We have a phone interpretation language line so our patients (who speak over 50 different languages) can communicate their needs clearly in their native languages.
- We routinely measure health outcomes.
- We have the top 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator for financial excellence and transparency.
