“What can I do?” It seems like I get asked this several times a day in the world of restaurants. “I want to support my local restaurant, but don’t know how I can help.” I get it. We all want to support our local restaurants, but some of us just aren’t ready to dine in, or cannot afford to eat out all the time. That is why I would like to take a minute to tell you how you can be supportive no matter your situation.
Speaking of social media, we all see the viral posts every time something goes wrong. If a restaurant is over crowded or an employee does something wrong it will occupy your feed for days. Everyone shares it and the world knows. Why not take the time to do the same when a restaurant makes you feel safe? If you feel like a place is going above and beyond to make you safe and address any concerns, share it. If you see a post by someone else who had a great experience, make that go viral. Be that positive news source that we all wish we had right now. This is another free and quick way to really highlight our restaurant friends that need it so much.
If you feel comfortable going out, your local spot is (hopefully) still available and will be so happy to see you. That could mean anything from coming in for a full meal to dropping by to grab a large salad to have with your home cooked meal for dinner or in my case usually dessert! Any purchase helps. Just seeing you and knowing that you are thinking about your favorite spot really does give hope that we will all be back together when this is over.
