Morgan Mentzer, Communications Coordinator, Arlington Chamber of Commerce
This past March, I started my journey at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce as the Events Associate, and within a few short months, I was promoted to the Communications Coordinator role. When I initially took the position at the Chamber, I had recently graduated with my Masters from George Mason University and was looking for an event marketing position at a nonprofit organization. Besides the opportunity fitting perfectly with my career objectives, I was drawn to the Chamber because its work to better the Arlington community through bolstering a thriving economic environment. I feel very fortunate to work for an organization that has such a tangible impact on the community.
I’ve been working at the Chamber for seven months now in a variety of capacities. As the Events Associate, I had the opportunity to plan and execute the logistics for one of the Chamber’s Signature Events, Volunteer Arlington Day. Preparing for and working this event early-on in my tenure, really gave me a sense of what the Chamber is all about – creating connections and developing relationships among the Arlington business community. As the Communications Coordinator, I’m responsible for the creation and management of all written word and overall branding of the organization. What I enjoy most about this position is the opportunity to highlight and promote our member’s accomplishments and successes, because when our members succeed, so does the Chamber. With over 100 events and the Chamber’s involvement with our members and the business community, there is never a dull moment in the office, and always something new to learn!
A little bit about me -- I've experienced life on both coasts, I was born and raised in Maryland and moved-out to Southern California for college. I moved back to the DMV area three years ago for graduate school, and now I currently reside in Del Ray, Alexandria. While I was taking classes at George Mason University, I spent some time in the Arlington, but now, through my work at the Chamber, I am learning so much about Arlington and the local businesses that make this area such an exciting place to live and work!
I am proud to be a part of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce team, and I’m looking forward to continuing to support the Chamber and its membership through my position as the Communications Coordinator.
