Haley Boylan, Operations Intern, Arlington Chamber of Commerce
I have been interning at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for roughly three months. I applied through the college internship and job site called Handshake. I was first interested in the Chamber because of how perfectly it blended my interests of government and business together.
I have been interning at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for roughly three months. I applied through the college internship and job site called Handshake. I was first interested in the Chamber because of how perfectly it blended my interests of government and business together.
I attend the George Washington University, where I am studying Organizational Sciences and minoring in Dance and Psychology. Organizational Sciences is the psychology of business and decision making skills. I have been learning, first hand, that the Chamber is a perfect example of what I am studying.
My favorite project I have worked on thus far is for Arlington Restaurant Week. I got to research the restaurants in Arlington and see if they are willing to participate in a week of discounted dining and exciting new menus. Due to COVID-19, the Chamber adapted for restaurants to create menus not only for dining in but also for carry out. It was interesting to see how restaurants well-received the idea.
Interning at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce has helped me understand how local businesses interact and achieve the mission of bettering the Arlington community.
I am looking forward to the coming months and the other projects I will work on.
