George Mason University is advancing our plans to deliver a new building to Mason's Arlington campus, dedicated to producing the next generation of Northern Virginia’s technology workforce. The new building will be the nexus of Mason’s research in emerging technologies, a base for its University-wide Institute for Digital innovation, and hub for Mason’s School of Computing and related academic programs which connect thousands of new students to the digital universe.
Facilitated by Mason’s Institute for Digital Innovation, companies, community organizations, and others will work alongside Mason innovators and creatives in a mix that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and ideation. Proximity to impact investors, other innovators, venture capitalists, and companies with the ability to scale ideas for the market will let Mason faculty, students, and partners commercialize their tech concepts more quickly and easily.
Nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurs dedicated to bettering the world can bring their ideas and vitality to the table as well. And because Mason's Arlington campus is already home to experts in fields such as law, public policy, business, politics, and conflict analysis, the campus will be a place where learning flows in both directions, as partners together discover ways to develop and deploy technologies that advance a more just, prosperous, and sustainable world.
Design and construction of the new building are already underway, with occupancy anticipated in early 2025.
