I have been interning at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for almost a month now, and every second of my time here has been eye-opening and phenomenal. I am in the Professional Related Intern/Mentorship Experience (PRIME) Program, which lasts four weeks, through Arlington Public Schools. PRIME is an internship program for rising juniors and seniors in high school that matches students with an organization or business related to their field of interest.
I work from 9:00am - 5:00 pm four days a week and haven’t once not come to work excited to see what the Chamber has in store for me that day. Every day I work on something new and experience more about the business and marketing world. I hope to use the knowledge and skills I have gained from this internship in the future. I have been interested in business for awhile now, but after working here, I am certain I would like to pursue it in the future and make a career out of it.
As of right now, I attend Wakefield High School in Arlington. With the communication and work skills I have obtained from my experience at the Chamber, I will be on my game for senior year and preparing for college! Working here has benefited me in many ways, like giving me connections to people I may not have the opportunity to meet otherwise. The Chamber has taught me that making connections as soon as possible will help you later in life when you need advice or help in the business world. Although my internship is coming to an end, I will never forget my experience here and the people I met along the way. I will make sure to implement everything I learned here in the future.
