Early Childhood Financial Resiliency Accelerator Program
The Arlington Chamber of Commerce and 20 Degrees launched the Early Childhood Education Financial Resilience Program in 2021 for child care providers in Arlington. The 20 Degree program brings together a cohort of providers for six hours of live group instruction over three weeks, bolstered by one-on-one coaching and community support from fellow members of the cohort.
The program focuses on teaching child care providers the business and financial skills necessary to maintain and grow their businesses. The results from our first cohort show that when providers leave feeling more connected, empowered, and informed about managing their business, they can be effective educators of young children and support for families.
The 2022 cohort is available at no cost to the participants thanks to presenting sponsor Amazon, and participants will receive a stipend made possible through support from Arlington Economic Development Bizlaunch.

“The best class I have taken in 20 years,” – Family Childcare Provider |
“The Financial Resiliency Program provides tools that are relevant and helpful. The team understands center based and family – based business models and the collaborative nature of the training strengthens everyone.” |
Child care availability is a key workforce issue, both for employees returning to the office and for teleworking employees, as was made evident by the challenges that working parents faced during the pandemic. Arlington County made it easier for child care providers to open with its 2019 Child Care Initiative, but there is still a need. Moreover, the entrepreneurs behind many family day care homes and small centers often do not have a business background – their passion and expertise is in caring for children. This program helps them develop the business skills to succeed.
The Early Childhood Financial Resiliency Accelerator was initially launched in 2020 in Montgomery County, Maryland by 20 Degrees and the Arlington Cohort that took place in November 2021 was the first in Virginia.
