Chamber
Representation Strong on New Arlington Task
Force
New Arlington County Board Chair Jay Fisette
wasted no time in naming numerous Arlington Chamber of
Commerce members to serve on what he refers to as a
"green-ribbon" panel,
the
Community Energy and Sustainability (CES) Task Force.
The representatives on the task force were named at a
County Board meeting on New Year's Day just minutes
after Fisette was elected to be this year's Chair. The
charge to the task force is to develop a Community Energy Plan aimed at
identifying specific goals, actions and strategies for
reducing Arlington's countywide greenhouse gas
emissions.
Selected to the panel were Phil Keating (Bean, Kinney &
Korman), 2010 Chamber Chair; Margaret McKeough (Metropolitan
Washington Airports Authority), 2008 Chamber Chair
and 2010 Vice Chair for Member Activities Deborah
Johnson (Dominion Virginia
Power) - all of which serve on the Chamber's
Executive Committee; in addition, Directors Brian Gordon
(AOBA) and
Dr. Patrick Murphy (Arlington Public
Schools) - both of which serve on our Board of
Directors; also, Past Director Jim Cole (Virginia Hospital
Center) and Past Directors Martha Duggan and Bob
Hemphill. Representatives from these other member
organizations were also appointed: Arlington
Partnership for Affordable Housing, Vornado, Turner
Construction, Virginia Tech
and Washington
Gas - in all, eleven Chamber members among a group
of twenty-eight appointees. Congratulations to each
appointee.
