Inclement Weather Policy
Arlington Chamber of Commerce Inclement Weather Policy:
When the ARLINGTON COUNTY OFFICES (not the Arlington Public Schools) are closed, all Chamber MEETINGS will be cancelled. Announcement of a "liberal leave policy" for the Arlington County Government is NOT the same as the county offices being closed. Announcements as to whether government offices are closed or not are given frequently on major area radio and television stations. Chamber EVENTS will go on as scheduled unless those having already registered are notified specifically of a cancelation or postponement. In the event that staff is unable to open the Chamber office by 8:00 a.m. for early meetings, the building engineer (when available) has been instructed to open the office to two or more people during inclement weather.
All cancellations/postponements will be posted to the Chamber website (www.arlingtonchamber.org) as circumstances permit. Alternatively, you may call the Chamber office @ (703) 525-2400. When possible, an informational message will be recorded on the Chamber's voice mail system. Dial extension 201 as soon as the recorded message begins. If there is no information on the recorded message or the Web site, please call the event location (i.e. hotel, club, etc.) directly. If the location is open and the Chamber has not informed the location to the contrary, then the function (event) will be held.
No refunds can be given in those circumstances where an event is held and someone with a reservation cannot attend due to inclement weather.
Above all, your safety is the Chamber's first concern - please be careful if attempting to brave the elements! And don't forget alternative modes of transportation - cab, Metro, ART bus, etc.
